Robert Williams has been everything the Celtics dreamed of and more this season.
But while the third-year center has made himself a desirable trade piece with huge jumps in his game this year, rumors suggest that growth has also made him untouchable as the trade deadline grows closer and closer.
“Robert Williams has drawn interest around the league from teams, but rival executives believe Boston will hold onto Williams and view him as part of the core around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown,” Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported Wednesday.
That aligns with similar reports...

Even those most frustrated by the Celtics this season must admit that things appear to be shaping up for Boston.
Perhaps no one needed this flash of hope more than Ime Udoka.
The first-year head coach has not had it easy, with COVID-19 literally plaguing him since Day 1 of trying to get to know his new team and figure out their rotations. Those challenges would be difficult anywhere, never mind Boston.
But after a perfect storm of the virus, injuries and organizational changes to get accustomed to, Boston is barely above .500 but putting things together .

The Boston Celtics have been red-hot of late and with the NBA trade deadline quickly approaching, there could be moves to improve the team even further.
One underrated player that hasn't been spoken about a lot but could make a major difference with the Celtics would be Denver Nuggets wing Will Barton.
Nikola Jokic deservedly garners most of the coverage revolving around the Nuggets, but Barton quietly has averaged 15.3 points per game this season while shooting 37% from beyond-the-arc. He's also chipped in 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
On top of his play on the...

The Boston Celtics barely have a winning record, but things have been looking up in the last few days after a pretty miserable start - all expectations considered.
It's no coincidence that team's core is healthy and available at the same time, finally.
Only recently was Boston's preferred starting lineup of Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford and Rob Williams able to put together 100 minutes of playing time together thanks to injuries and staggered stays in the COVID-19 protocol.
But now that group has recorded 174 minutes, and by holding opponents to...

Could the NBA trade deadline set up a reunion for the Celtics and one former Boston center? That could be the case , according to one report.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype on Wednesday reported the Celtics “called and did some due diligence on” Daniel Theis, who played for Boston from 2017 to March 2021, when he was traded to the Chicago Bulls. Theis finished last season with the Bulls as he posted a career-high 10 points per game in 23 outings.
Theis went to Houston in a sign-and-trade in August. Though 26 games, the 29-year-old is averaging 8.4 points and 5.0 rebound in...
